What's New At Dakota?
(Updated March 31, 2007)

Happy Easter!

This lovely girl, featured on our Home Page, is Kara. She is a Sawyer X Lexie daughter who is owned and loved by Cheryl and Murray.

Our Alley Makes Her Mark!

Alley started 2007 off with a bang! She swept the weekend of the IKC February shows by going Best of Breed both days, including the Chicagoland Dalmatian Club specialty. Alley now has two specialty wins to her credit.  She added two more Best of Breeds at the big Louisville cluster. With her strong showings in 2006 and now in the beginning of 2007, our Alley is beginning a new adventure. She will be shown as a special by Kim Halcom starting in April. We know that she will be in excellent hands and are sure they will make a formidable combination.  In her weekend out with her new team,  Alley won a Best of Breed and a Group 2!

Sawyer Still Steals Hearts!

"I don't need your rocking chair!"

That from our resident veteran. Sawyer came out for a special appearance and took the IKC show and CDC Specialty in Chicago.  First on Friday he had an impromptu visit to the Judges Education Seminar for a hands on demonstration where he was the consummate pro for twenty plus exams.  The couldn't believe he was ten years old!  On Saturday morning it was off to a meet-in-greet the with "his" public and he was in his glory.  The afternoon was the Chicagoaland Specialty where Sawyer was in his element.  Best Veteran in Sweeps and Best of Opposite Sex from the Veterans Class was just a thrill. A special moment as Best of Breed went to his daughter, Alley.  Good Boy Sawyer Brown Dog!

Tate is Growing Up!

Just look at how he has changed!

When Tate first came to us, he was just a playful pup. Now, at six months old, he is already showing the elegance of his breed and the promise of the adult he will become.

It's been a long wait, but well worth it! Tate came to Dakota October 28th and we couldn't be happier! Tate's dam is the multiple Best In Show Winning, Ch. Luxor's Playmate of the Year or "Bunny" for short! He is from a frozen semen litter sired by Ch. Paradise Legacy O'Bramblewood. Tate and his two sisters were born August 16th, 2006, and we feel very fortunate to have him. Thanks go to his breeder, Wendy Anderson, for sending him to us.  He already has us charmed!

Lily Makes News As A Reading Teacher!

We couldn't be prouder of Lily, who has made her mark as a certified Therapy Dog and now is "in the news!" Check out this newspaper article which highlights her work helping young people to read!

New Champion Alley Qualifies For the DCA Top Twenty!

Although she was only shown as a special six times after earning her championship, our Alley has qualified for and will be shown the the Dalmatian Club of America's Top Twenty competition in May, 2007! This is quite an honor for such a young girl but we always knew she was outstanding! We're so proud of her!

In her first weekend out as a special, our BISS Ch Dakota's Diagon Alley (Ch. Aberdeen's Sawyer Brown & Ch. Dakota's Tell Tail Heart) was Best of Breed at Lake Shore Kennel Club both days and was awarded a Group 2 on Saturday. Alley showed like a pro and had a great time. To get a group two behind "the white poodle" in a very nice group was such a thrill! It made showing in the group fun. Alley followed up that group placement with another Group 2 and a Group 4! We're really proud of our girl!

While this was her first weekend as a special, it is not Alley's first Breed win.  In the afternoon of the Greater Murfreesboro Supported entry, Alley finished her championship by going Best of Winners.  She did so with a record that included two other Specialty wins including Winners Bitch at this year’DCA.

She is pictured above with her specialty win.

Then in the evening at the Cumberland Valley Specialty and as a move-up, Alley was given nod for Best of Breed! It was a big finish.....And a bigger beginning as she proved at Lake Shore!

New Baby Champion!

NEW CHAMPION Dakota Salutes Hopi Kachina

Stitch finished his championship on October 22nd at the young age of 9 months.  His impressive record included TWO BEST OF WINNERS at specialties, three majors and a Best In Sweepstakes....all from the 6-9 month Puppy Class and done in four weekends! Stitch is now growing up but watch for him in ther performance rings with owner Susan Buse in the near future!

Life With the Whippets Is Always An Adventure!

Armani plays with Fonda...but she's a little rough!
That's OK though, Armani has found a way to protect himself!

Meet Rose!

Introducing Rose!  (aka Bret D Pokatalica Malibu Rose)  Rose is a Sawyer daughter out of Ch. Snow Hill Indy Bret D. Pictured winning Best Jr. in Sweepstakes at the Cumberland Valley Dal Specialty last month, Rose has already made a big impression. In three weekends out she has been awarded points twice and twice been chosen Non-Sporting Puppy GROUP ONE!.  In December, Rose earned a major from the puppy class at Ingham County K.C. the weekend of the Holidal Specialty. We just love her!  Congratulations to Rosie’s two other littermates, Duke and Cinder who have already been winners as well. Cinder has even picked up both majors in just two weeks!   Rose is owned by Debbie Zink and was bred by Debbie and Michelle Jarus

          Ch. Maeve Earns Tracking Title!

Dakota is delighted to congratulate Linda McSherry and her Champion Sawyer daughter, Maeve, on their new Tracking title. This is truly an all-round conformation and performance team. What a great example of what Dalmatians can do!

In Memory of Ch.

Ch. Dakota Paisley Persnickety “Gunner”

3/12/93 – 10/16/06

As a young dog, Gunner was a very spirited, fun-loving Dalmatian who enjoyed showing. He finished his championship easily and went on to sire champions, including the 1996 D.C.A. Best Senior In Sweepstakes winner and Detroit's Winners Bitch, Ch. Dakota Madurhason's Incognito. Gunner also sired the Greater Heartland Specialty winner, Ch. Dakota Madurhason's X-Files. Gunner was owned and loved by Andy and Karen Alpeter.

In Memory of Ch. Dakota's Telling Secrets

Sept. 10, 1997 - August 8, 2006

Sadly, we said goodbye to Rumor August 8th. While she was only nine years old, a sudden illness took her from us. Rumor was a Zoe daughter who did well in the show ring but distinguished herself by producing lovely puppies with exceptional temperaments. Those puppies included Ch. Kate, Ch. Laser and Ch. Ready. We will always remember Rumor's gentle spirit and her devotion to her owner, Robert Johnson. After Rumor retired from the show ring and had her final litter, Robert gave her the home she always wanted. She was much loved and well cared for every day he had her. We are so grateful that she had that time with him.

DCA 2006

Judge, Judy Murray points at Kris and Alley for Winners!

This year's National Specialty was a good one for Dakota. Our Alley, Dakota's Diagon Alley, started with her 10-12 month bitch Sweeps win and went on to be Winners Bitch! We could not have been more thrilled.

Cole Finishes His Championship!

Congratulations also go to Cole (Dakota's Name Of The Game)  for first winning a big Open Black Dog class at DCA (shown below) and then winning his third major less than a month later to FINISH! Way to go Becky and Cole!

Cole got his first points by winning a MAJOR from the 6-9 month Puppy Class with his owner/handler Becky Navratil on the other end of the lead. He followed that up by going Best In Sweepstakes at the Twin Cities Dalmatian Specialty!

Cole is a Bandit X Kate son from their 2004 litter.

Bandit Is In His New Home

We have had a wonderful time showing Bandit since he came to us as a youngster. His sweet temperament at home and his nice wins in the show ring made his stay with us quite nice. However, we are happy to announce that Bandit is settled in his new home with Kirk and Lana Giessinger of Madison, MS. They are planning a fall breeding with Bandit and thier champion bitch, Grace. ( http://www.madisondalmatians.com ). We know that Bandit is in the best of hands with them and the Giessingers already love him.

New Champion Eve!

Congratulations to Sawyer's newest Champion daughter, Eve, owned by Deborah Baldridge.  Eve is Ch.Fyreagle Got th' Look of Dakota. She finished with a Best of Breed win at 15 months of age. She recently followed that up with another Best of Breed win and a Group 4!

 Dakota At the Indianapolis Specialties!

We attended the Dalmatian Club of Greater Indianapolis specialties on April 1st and 2nd and had a great time. We're so proud of the three Dalmatians we showed that weekend.

Bandit won Best of Breed at both specialties, and Dakota retired two of the club’s challenge trophies. In addition to Bandit, Dakota won BOB at those specialties with Britain and Sawyer Brown.

Bandit BISS

Sawyer Brown, shown as a Veteran Dog,  was given an Award of Merit both days. It was one of only two given at each specialty.

What Do These Dals Have In Common?

We're proud to say that they are all Dakota Dalmatians that do wonderful work for their owners or others who need them. Check out their new Dakota Dogs At Work page!

Saroise In Irish Parade!

Meet Saroise, George's sister! This wee spotted puppy not only strutted her stuff at this parade, but she had fun with small children, and two great Irish Wolfhounds. Another parade is scheduled for the near future, so we're looking forward to seeing even more pictures!

Visit our "Dakota Family" Page!

We couldn't be happier with the families that have opened their homes and hearts to our Dakota Dalmatians! There is nothing nicer than hearing that the dogs we sent to them are still doing well and are happy. It was a joy to hear that Sydney (now almost 14) and Teddy (now 9), shown above, are doing just that! We know that they are much loved;

Our extended Dakota Families have sent us some wonderful pictures of the puppies and dogs they adopted.  We have a Family Page set up so we can share those pictures with everyone. Our newest pictures are now up on the page.  (The old ones are filed away, but not forgotten!) If you would like us to show a picture of your Dakota Dalmatian, please send it to us in a jpg format. We'll be happy to help you show off your best buddy!
