Dakota occasionally has older puppies and dogs available to select homes. These may be pups we kept as possible show prospects, dogs that have finished their show careers or bitches who have had one litter and are looking for a special "retirement" home. Sometimes, they are just dogs that we feel would be happier with a family where they can be the only dog and have more attention. In addition to our own dogs we occasionally foster and place dogs for a Dalmatians rescue group.
There are advantages to adopting an older Dalmatian They are often housebroken, crate trained and past the chewing stage. They have usually been taught to walk on lead, ride quietly in the car and have basic house manners. Since they have been raised with other dogs, they almost always adapt well to other dogs in their new homes.
We are very careful in matching these dogs with prospective owners. We know each older puppy or dog's personality well and take time to find exactly the right home where both dog and owner will be happy. Visit our What's New? page to see some of our latest placements connecting Dakota Dals with their special, new families!
You can also take a look at the http://www.sosdalrescue.com/ site. They are an area rescue and always have carefully screened Dalmatians in need of foster and adoptive homes.
