What's New At Dakota?
(Updated August 7, 2008)

The Fonda babies are home!

We had intended to bring home one puppy but couldn't choose.  We ended up brining home two and will grow the up a bit and decide.  Thank you Debbie Davenport for the wonderful job you have done with them so far and for the great care you gave Fonda while she was visiting.  I'm sure we have some stars here!

That's Fonda, pictured above, running "full out" while lure chasing. You can see that her puppies have inherited that instinct.

Introducing Elliott (formerly Alan)  and C. J.  (formerly Star)

Here's CJ at her first practice run:

Elliot rook a turn too! Both pups had a great time!

Dakota Dogs Earn New Titles

Hunter's Going To Be a Therapy Dog!

This is Hunter, Dakota's Braveheart (Ch. Winger & Ch. Twyla). He is owned by the Renjilian family. Hunter just graduated his first puppy class and will soon be in training for his Therapy Dog certification.  He has big paws to fill as his big sister, Lily (Dakota Tell It Like It IS) is a R.E.A.D. Therapy dog.

India Continues Her Winning Ways!

We also want to congratulate Jodi Fraser and Indy on their most recent agility title.  Indy's new initials are Ch. Dakota All That N Then Some, CD, RE, NA, NAJ!
This team just keeps going!  Now they are working on Indy's tracking title.  Best of luck, girls!

Rookie is a "Top Dog!"

Congratulations to Rookie and Peter!  Rookie just learned he was #8 Top Spot for Novice Title in 2007.   He recently also earned his RE title so his name is officially Dakota's Desperado CD, RE. Rookie is a Sawyer & Katie son. His 'housemate," Connor is the first Dakota dog to earn his CDX so with his titles, his name is now Dakota's Prince Connor CDX RAE.

All of us in the Dakota family are so proud of these performance dogs. They are wonderful ambassadors for the breed and prove that are intelligent, willing workers as well as beautiful dogs! Congrats Rookie and Connor!

Meet A New Dakota Show Prospect!

This is Profit (Dakota's Book of Magical Theory), one of the beautiful liver girls from our Ch. Dakota's Wingardium Leviosa X Ch. Aberdeen's Twilight Time litter.  She is at home in Ohio with her "mom" Kris Shawhan and big sister, Reddi (Ch. Bandit x Ch. Grace).  Watch for her in the ring this fall!

You can always tell a lady by the company she keeps!

Alley was a big hit at this years Top 20 held during DCA week.  Everyone dressed up in their very best and boy did they look nice!

Alley and handler, Kim Halcom had a super time at this year's Dalmatian Club National Specialty!   Their first time in and they came home with a much sought after Award of Merit!  Congratulations girls!

.....And the girls weren't the only ones to get attention!

We were extremely pleased with the reception Gryffin got from the crowd and judges alike.  Gryffin placed in all three of his classes, including a second place behind his brother who went on to be named Best in Futurity.  Congratulations to Gryffin's breeder Connie Wager, Spotlight Dalmatians on a wonderful win!

SNOW, SNOW AND MORE SNOW!

It's been a very long time since we've had this much snow in Illinois. While it causes travel to be difficult for us, the dogs don't seem to mind at all!

The Dakota dogs play in the snow!

Saoirse Makes Her Mark!

Dakota Drama Q Siren's Song RN RA  CGC

In 2007, Saoirse, owned by, handled and loved by Susan Taylor, earned her Rally Novice at DCA, Rally Advanced at the Chicagoland Specialty, and Novice Agility Jumpers with Weaves taking second place in a line up of over 20 dogs at Lafayette Kennel Club!

Susan says, "What a year!  We are now hearing "Oh, the Dalmatian is here, and she's fast"!  It's great to put concern into the hearts of border collies!!!

Again, I can't begin to describe how much fun she is, and how very much I love her!  She is truly my best friend and partner in all things exhilarating!  We are planning on working on more titles in the year of 2008!  We have Rally Excellent and Rally Advanced Excellent to conquer.  And it's off to Novice Agility Standard and the Open Agility titles in Standard and Jumpers with Weaves.  We start back up January 12 and 13 here in Indy. "

Dakota is really proud of this team and all they have accomplished!
Way to go, Girls!

Thanks, Ron!

Our Alley Goes Best In Show!

BIS Alley and handler, Kim Holcom

What a thrill for us to have Alley win her first BIS at Badger Kennel Club on May 4th! Alley began a new adventure in April when she began being  shown as a special by professional handler,  Kim Halcom.  With several group placements and now, her first BIS in their first month together, they have already proven themselves to be a  formidable team.  Alley will turn two years old on the 28th of May. While she is the second Dakota Best In Show dog, she has earned that title at even a younger age than her great-grandmother, BIS/BISS Ch. Dakota's Victoria's Secret.  To say that we are thrilled is an under-statement!

Visit. Alley 's page to see more about her earlier wins.

Indy has a two new titles!!

Congratulations to Ch. Dakota’s All That N Then Some (aka Indy) and her owner/handler Jodi Fraser on completing her CD and Rally Excellent titles in the same weekend!   Indy has really come into her own since moving out east to live with Jodi and Kelly and their other Dalmatian, Jack (a former foster child at Dakota).  They finished their title with high scores and grand style. Best of luck in their next endeavor, agility! It looks like they have a great start! You go, girls!

Lily Makes News As A Reading Teacher!

We couldn't be prouder of Lily, who has made her mark as a certified Therapy Dog and now is "in the news!" Check out this newspaper article which highlights her work helping young people to read!

          Ch. Maeve Earns Tracking Title!

Dakota is delighted to congratulate Linda McSherry and her Champion Sawyer daughter, Maeve, on their new Tracking title. This is truly an all-round conformation and performance team. What a great example of what Dalmatians can do!

DCA 2006

Judge, Judy Murray points at Kris and Alley for Winners!

This year's National Specialty was a good one for Dakota. Our Alley, Dakota's Diagon Alley, started with her 10-12 month bitch Sweeps win and went on to be Winners Bitch! We could not have been more thrilled.

What Do These Dals Have In Common?

We're proud to say that they are all Dakota Dalmatians that do wonderful work for their owners or others who need them. Check out their new Dakota Dogs At Work page!

Visit our "Dakota Family" Page!

We couldn't be happier with the families that have opened their homes and hearts to our Dakota Dalmatians! There is nothing nicer than hearing that the dogs we sent to them are still doing well and are happy. It was a joy to hear that Sydney (now almost 14) and Teddy (now 9), shown above, are doing just that! We know that they are much loved;

Our extended Dakota Families have sent us some wonderful pictures of the puppies and dogs they adopted.  We have a Family Page set up so we can share those pictures with everyone. Our newest pictures are now up on the page.  (The old ones are filed away, but not forgotten!) If you would like us to show a picture of your Dakota Dalmatian, please send it to us in a jpg format. We'll be happy to help you show off your best buddy!
